Literature Text

The nightmares are coming, my child, and you should be afraid. They come suddenly, and silently, and swiftly. They steal you away, submerging you in their sinister slights.

The nightmares are coming, my dear, and these you should fear. They'll carry you away, cripple your mind and crush your will. And you can't escape their claw-strewn clutches.

The nightmares are coming, little one, and you really should run. They come with intent to kill and clamber towards you. Crying won't save you, nor calling, nor keening. You can try to crawl away, but do not doubt that they will catch you.

Beware the nightmares, my child. For now, they come. Heed my warnings, though my tales seem untrue. Get yourself safe, hidden away with the others. Run, don't turn back. For surely, they will catch you if you do.

Be cautious, child. For now, they arrive. They come for you now; quick, run and hide! The nightmares are sneaky and sly, and will catch up to you if something goes awry.

The nightmares are here, my dear, and now you are doomed. Hopeless and finished, and you will be gone for good. Don't look at me that way, child, surely you guessed. I am the nightmares, little one

Be very, very scared.
I started writing this after seeing some creepy paintings on tumblr. I finally added the ending I've been trying to come up with, and now it's finished. I tried for creepy, almost Jabberwocky-ish rhythm.
